I cannot wait for "SONAR 9", but I am pretty sure it will not be released this year! Because now the Bakers at Cake have now a lot more resources to work with, I guess. I am sure that now that ROLAND is around, well, things will change. On my systems, PT always "crashed" a lot less than SONAR.īut. The main one being: PT maybe has less features than SONAR, but everyone of them are WORKING and MATURE while SONAR is sometimes, well, new features and plugins gets released even if they are maybe not fully ready. I really love PT and SONAR, and for me, it has been both useful and a real PITA to be able to work with both PT (LE and M-Powered. That said, the fact now that AVID is putting that feature on the main feature set and is even talking about it in their video promo (with visuals of other products from the competition!!!) IS a definitive clue that AVID is on their way to change their approach about DAW products. I could use MBOXES and DIGI 002 with SONAR 4 and up. I reckon AVID will sell truck-loads of these units to non-PTLE users so they can " cover their bases " - this is a very smart moveĪSIO drivers have been around since about 2002 with DIGIDESIGN. Whilst PTLE is not changed - still track limitied - no ADC - terrible workflow etc. This is a big move by AVID - it means people will for the first time be able to run Sonar and PTLE on the same machine with the same interface and use the same optimized driver. Whilst " old " Mbox's could somtimes work with non-LE software, the Mbox 3 range now has a fully open optimzed driver - in fact they tout its compatabiltiy wiht Cubase, Sonar etc. fully optimized and supported non-Pro Tools ASIO driver early reports suggest audio quality on par with Apogee Duet
